John W. Perry enlisted in 2008 and then initially deployed to Afghanistan from 2010-2011. He redeployed and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas. He was killed during a suicide vest bombing at Bagram, Afghanistan. John was posthumously promoted to Staff Sergeant. John was great at his job, and he enjoyed it. His sense of humor had a way of showing up at just the right times. John left behind a wife, a daughter and a son.
