Lance Corporal Shane Lee Goldman served with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Pendleton, California. On his second tour in Iraq, just nine days before his 20th birthday, he was killed by hostile fire during a routine patrol in Anbar Province. He followed his dream and his family’s legacy to become a U.S. Marine.
Known as “Bubba” to his sister, Shane was a big-hearted young man who loved his family, his faith, and his country. He grew up wanting to be a Marine, and he made that dream a reality. He was deeply loved by those around him, remembered for his grin, his bravery, and his devotion to those he held close.
Shane leaves behind a proud family, and a legacy of courage and sacrifice. He was laid to rest with full military honors, his memory honored by hundreds who gathered to say goodbye. Though his life was brief, he lived it with purpose, and he will always be remembered as a hero who gave everything for others.
