Chief Warrant Officer Four Marquis Eugene Smith, United States Army, enlisted in 1996 as a Private and rose through the enlisted ranks to Sergeant before earning his commission through Warrant Officer Candidate School. He advanced to Chief Warrant Officer Three and served as the G6 Chief of Defensive Cyber Operations, advising commanders and managing secure information systems. A dedicated professional, he was approved for promotion to Chief Warrant Officer Four prior to his death, a testament to his leadership and technical expertise.
