Private First Class Chase A. Edwards enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in May 2005 after graduating from Barbe High School. He deployed to Iraq in March 2006 with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines and was killed by a roadside bomb in Ramadi, Iraq. Edwards was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

Known for his patriotism and courage, Edwards was described as trustworthy and selfless, with a big heart. He had long dreamed of serving in the Marines and was deeply admired for his strong character and warm smile. Friends, family and community members remember him as a true hero.

Even as a child, Chase put others first – last in line for treats, but first to volunteer. His sacrifice continues to inspire his hometown of Lake Charles, where he was honored with a hero’s funeral. Tributes to his life highlight his enduring courage and devotion to others.
