Tifton resident named chief operating officer for national nonprofit

TIFTON — A longtime Tifton resident will serve as the new head of national nonprofit Carry The Load.

The nonprofit organization, dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of the country’s active service
members, veterans, first responders, and their family members, announced earlier this week that it had
appointed Tifton resident Matt Fryman as its new chief operating officer.

A full-time member of Carry The Load since 2015, Fryman has spearheaded several of the organization’s
programs in the time since, most notably leading a major expansion of the National Relay campaign, a
cross-country marathon encouraging people all over the U.S. to walk and raise money in honor of service
members and veterans.

Under his supervision, the relay, now known as Memorial May, expanded to reach over 48 states and
sees over 20,000 miles walked annually.

“Matt has been an integral part of our team and has seen firsthand how Carry The Load has grown over
the past decade,” said Kathie Wood, CEO of Carry The Load. “His operational leadership and expertise
will help us continue serving our community while expanding our impact nationwide.”

Fryman also served as the nonprofit’s operations and events director, overseeing its events for Veterans
Day, 9/11, and more.He expressed optimism regarding his new station with Carry The Load, eager to
continue his work in connecting citizens across the country with opportunities to honor and remember
their national heroes to an even greater extent.

“I’m pleased to tackle this new position and look forward to building on the momentum of Carry The
Load’s beloved programs while helping more Americans connect with our mission in meaningful ways,”
he said. “As we look at the next 15 years of serving those who have put their lives on the line for the rest
of us, Carry The Load will ensure we continue to build community, ignite conversations that lead to
meaningful action and offer impactful programming.”
