About William L. "Billy" Mayer

Staff Sergeant William “Billy” Lowell Mayer, United States Army, enlisted in 1998 as a UH-60 Blackhawk crew chief and served with distinction across assignments in South Korea, Germany, Hawaii, Fort Polk, Fort Carson and Eglin Air Force Base. He completed three tours in Afghanistan, first as a crew chief and later as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. His service was recognized with honors including the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal.

Billy was known for his positive spirit and infectious humor. He loved helping others and cherished time with his sons, whether boating, surfing or enjoying the beach and lake. A devoted sports fan, he followed the Chargers and Oregon Ducks, and found joy in life’s simple moments, especially with his dog Iceman and the people around him.

His legacy lives on through his wife, Becky Mayer, and sons, Justin Lowell Mayer and Leland Michael Mayer. They carry forward his strength, laughter and unwavering love, ensuring his energy and spirit continue to inspire all who knew him.
