Sergeant Kenneth B. Gibson was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He died of wounds sustained in Balad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position during dismounting operations.
Kenneth Gibson was selfless and always cared for his people and their safety. He was courageous to the end, taking the brunt of the blast that killed him, saving countless others with his brave act.
