Officer Garcia was killed in an accident when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle while he was escorting a funeral procession. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with negligent homicide. Garcia was a Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Houston Police Department for four years.

Florentino is fondly remembered as a kind man who always seemed to have a smile and good thing to say about others. He was a top notch patrolman who frequently volunteered for radio calls and always checked by as a back-up for his brother officers.

Tino was dedicated to service until the very end.
