About Darron Lee Burks

Officer Darron Lee Burks served with the Dallas Police department for eight months. Prior to being a Police Officer, Burks taught for nearly 20 years at Texans Can Academy and was actively involved as a mentor and leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Officer Burks was shot and killed after responding to a distress call.

Darron is remembered for his commitment to service, his compassion and empathy, and his mentorship towards others.

Officer Burks was a selfless hero, dedicated public servant, and compassionate mentor whose impact extended far beyond his role as a police officer. Per his mother Cherie Jeffery, “Darron had love for everybody. He saw the good in everyone.”
