Lance Corporal Eric Ward was a fourth generation Marine with a determination to serve. He joined the United States Marine Corps in July 2008 after graduating high school and was deployed to Afghanistan later that year.

He is fondly remembered for his big smile and his big heart. His mother recalls that his favorite song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” summed up his attitude, adding simply, “he cared for all.”
