Carry The Load relay honors fallen soldiers

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Across the nation, Memorial Day is a time to honor troops who have died during the line of duty.

Here in Southwest Louisiana, veterans, families of fallen soldiers and national organization “Carry The Load” gathered at the lakefront Friday to start what would be a walking journey to honor those veterans who died protecting the freedom of all Americans.

Those participating made a three-mile trek down Ryan Street.

Carry The Load members have been walking and traveling all along the East Coast region for the last month. Their journey ends on Sunday in Dallas, Texas.
