Scott William Blais

Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: East Longmeadow, MA

Branch of Service: U.S. Air Force

Rank: Master Sergeant

Master Sergeant Scott Blais enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17. He spent the next 12 years as a Staff Sergeant stationed around the world, including Japan, Arizona and on the USS Bella Wood. In 2004, Blais enlisted into the 337th Airlift Squadron at Westover Air Reserve Base where he proudly served as a C-5 Flight Engineer supporting missions around the globe. He collapsed and died unexpectedly during a training mission.

Scott had a deep passion for aviation, from watching anything and everything that flew overhead, to making air museums across the country part of family vacations. Aviation was truly in his blood. He loved golf, O.S.U. football, the Montreal Canadiens, and by all accounts he never met a beer he didn’t like. He proudly lived by the motto, “Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.”

As much as he loved serving our country, Scott’s true love was for his family. The proudest moment in his life was becoming a father to his twin daughters. His quick wit and humor live on through them to this day.
