Michael Greg Karr Jr.
Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: Garland, TX
Branch of Service: United States Army
Rank: Spc.
Specialist Michael Greg Karr Jr. enlisted in the United States Army in May 2002. He completed combat medic training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas before being deployed to Iraq in September 2003.
The Army was Michael’s saving grace. He did not always have it easy, but made a 180-degree change after enlisting. In the Army, he found his passion and the place he belonged. Serving as a combat medic fit him well. His legacy is that of being a caring young man who was always there to help someone in need.
Michael’s sister, Erin, remembers him for his “goofy smile and goofy laugh.” According to Erin, “he was just a big kid who wanted to take care of others and step up when he saw someone in need. He became my best friend and protector.”
