In addition to being the pilot of a high-performance jet aircraft, Larry was an Eagle Scout and a dedicated student of life. He has been described as gregarious, humorous, intelligent and dedicated. His love of country and his legacy continue through his daughter and granddaughters.
Larry was proud of his work with the United States Air Force and his service to the country. He was a devoted patriot and family man who died too young, but while doing what he loved.
Lieutenant Larry D. Vose graduated from pre-flight training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in 1952 as the highest-ranking cadet in a class of 1,000. He was thrilled to get orders to Ladd AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska, because his wife and daughter could join him. Shortly after takeoff on his first training flight there in a T-33, the jet went out of control and crashed. Larry and the pilot were killed.
