Joseph Suponcic
Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: Jersey Shore, PA
Branch of Service: United States Army
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Staff Sergeant Joseph Suponcic served as a liaison interpreter in the 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Kosovo. He was killed in Southeastern Kosovo when the HMMWV in which he was a passenger struck an anti-tank mine.
From the time he was a little boy, Joseph wanted to be a soldier, and serving in the Special Forces was his ultimate goal. He achieved that goal by becoming a Green Beret.
A fellow soldier, Scott, who served with him in Kosovo had this to say, “Joey was a symbol of the enduring Green Beret legacy–marked by strength, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to duty. May his legacy inspire future generations of Green Berets to carry the torch of service, embodying the values that define this elite and honorable brotherhood.”
