Jason Towner Poindexter
Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: San Angelo , TX
Branch of Service: United States Marine Corps
Rank: Pfc.
Private First Class Jason Poindexter joined the Marines in March 2003 and graduated boot camp in January 2004. He deployed overseas in September of 2004, and was serving with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, Echo Company when he was killed in action in al Anbar Province, Iraq. For his courage, character, and loyalty to his country, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
Jason had the ability to make a bad situation good. He always kept his brothers upbeat and lighthearted. They knew deployment would pass quickly because Jason kept them laughing. His deployment words were, “Hey I’m just going to do a job. I’ll be back before you know it.”
An easygoing and witty young man, it was comfortable to be in Jason’s presence, and people sought to be around him. He chose to serve his country and made the best of even the worst moments. He is dearly missed.
