Private First Class James W. Price joined the Army as a communication specialist and served over three years on active duty. He was serving with the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, when he was killed when an improvised explosive device hit his convoy vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq.
James was a tuba player in the band and participated in track in high school. He later attended Chattanooga State Community College. He was extremely dedicated to his job, and he never left anyone behind. He lived his life exactly as he chose to.
Price was given full military honors and awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his actions.
