James T. Reddington

LCpl. Reddington served 3rd Platoon, E Company, 2nd Bn, 5th Marines as a rifleman who lost his life in the Quang Nam Province in South Vietnam. Reddington and two other men, John L. Fuller, and John T. King were crossing a dry rice paddy toward a tree line when they were fired upon by snipers, mortar, machine gun and small arms fire.
Most of Echo Co. 2nd. bat 5th Marines were wounded in this battle. Three of these men from Echo Company, 2nd Bn, 5th Marines died together that day. LCpl. Reddington, along with good friends, Fuller and King, died saving the lives of their brothers next to them that day.
The survivors have been honoring their memories for many years and carrying the load well before Carry the Load began. They do this because those men sacrificed their lives so they could live and that won’t be forgotten.
