Ian Zook
Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: Port St. Lucie, FL, Florida
Branch of Service: Marine Corps
Rank: Corporal
Ian stepped forward to serve in the United States Marine Corps, willingly. He wanted to wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor — the emblem of the USMC. Ian was in security forces. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004. Ian volunteered to go to an area that was more dangerous. Six weeks after arriving in Iraq, Ian lost his life when their unit was ambushed.
Ian’s best qualities were his caring and compassionate spirit. He would be the first to quietly step forward to help another. He had a quick wit and a sense of humor that could instantly turn a glum attitude to one where you see the positive side. Ian protected the weak, being by their side and offering his strength. Ian is missed every day… Ian was faithful. Ian was a faithful son. He naturally made sure that we, his parents, knew that he loved us. Ian was a faithful brother. He made sure his sister knew that she could trust him and that he would care for her. Ian was a faithful friend. His friends knew that Ian would always be there for them. Ian met needs and from all of this he was a natural leader, stepping forward to do what was right.
