Branch of Service: United States Army
Rank: Specialist
Specialist Cameron J. Stambaugh served with the U.S. Army’s 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas, during Operation Enduring Freedom. He died in Maidan Shahr, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by an improvised explosive device. He was one of six soldiers killed in the blast.
Cameron was one of four boys. He was full of life with a big heart. He loved nature, hunting and fishing. His grandfather, now 100 years-old, is a WWII Veteran and was a mentor to Cameron and his younger brother, Jeffrey Stambaugh, who also served.
Specialist Stambaugh was generous and selfless. He often gave candy to Afghan children and would go out of his way to help others without expecting anything in return. He is truly missed.
