Private First Class Odiorne enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2015. He attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He arrived at Fort Hood, Texas in 2016, and was assigned to Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. He deployed to Iraq in 2017 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
The Soldiers at the battery called him “OD.” He had a friendly personality and always assisted those in need. He had an eagerness to learn and improve himself as a soldier. As a Cannon Crew Member, he was one of the fastest in his Paladin section and Battery. He will always be remembered for what he said after he loaded a round into the Paladin: “OD Smash!”
Odiorne’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal.
