Sergeant Brandon M. Smith joined the Army in 2007. He completed basic training at Fort Benning November 2007, advanced training in Missile System Repair April 2008, Airborne course May 2008, and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division June 2008. Smith served in Afghanistan from September 2009 through September 2010. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Commendation Medal.
Brandon was a young man of great strength and character, always willing to help others, and never wanting to see someone down or left out. He would always go out of his way to put a smile on their face. He loved children, the outdoors, fixing things, and dogs. He had the craziest laugh, the most beautiful eyes, and an infectious smile.
A loyal man, Brandon gave his best to his family, friends, and his work. “We will always treasure the twenty-four years we were blessed with his friendship and love. Now he is heaven’s treasure. We are very proud of him,” recalled his mother, Holly Smith.
