Adam C. Conboy
Fallen Hero’s Hometown and State: Roxborough, PA
Branch of Service: United States Marine Corps
Rank: Lance Cpl.
Marine Lance Corp. Conboy became a Marine in March 2005 and graduated third in his class. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Conboy had recently been promoted to Lance Corporal and had only been in Iraq eight weeks when he died from a non-hostile gunshot wound. His medals include a Purple Heart.
Adam attended Shawmont Elementary School and Roxborough High School. He later moved to Schwenksville where he graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School in June 2003. A sturdy six feet, three inches, he played baseball and football in high school. He then returned to Roxborough and worked as a train conductor with his father, Charles, at SMS Rail, before enlisting in the Marines.
He had three tattoos to remind him where he came from: Ireland, the country of his ancestors on his leg, Philly across his stomach, and Jesus over his heart. Adam felt strongly that it was the responsibility of his generation to carry on the tradition of defending his country and protecting the freedoms often taken for granted.
