According to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), more than 450,000 veterans live in the North Texas region, out of more than 1.5 million across the state of Texas. Too often, government media-resources fall short of what many of these men and women need to live fulfilling lives after serving their country. Therefore, it’s up to local and national organizations to provide a safety net for thousands of veterans in the areas of health care, education, hunger, homelessness, employment and mental health.
